It's Groundhog's Day . . . Again. . .

I'd really like to sit down and write, but I won't...

Man, I feel like this has been the last several days.  I wake up and go through the motions at work, and despite having had COPIOUS amounts of free time (primarily due to a disappointing lack of work to do at Work) I can't write!  While I'm not stuck in the existential crisis that Bill Murray is trapped by in Groundhog's Day, it sure feels like I am to a degree.  On the flip side, I seem to write when I complain about not writing, so we'll see if it works this time.

So far, I've got a little less than four pages of Chapter 8, which I really wanted to get done last month.  I'm in another "forced writing" situation after describing a new character, a 'velociraptor'-esque creature that's a sort of Loyal Animal Companion.  I'm in the situation where I'm like "Do I describe them more (even if I revise it all out later) or do I just stop here and move one?"  I know what the right answer is but that never helps.  Hopefully that pattern I mentioned earlier holds true and I get some writing done though.  Anyway, Happy Groundhog's Day.  I sure hope there will be a tomorrow.  There wasn't one today.

Struggling to Write

I need to write!

Particularly when I don't want to!

This month has been FAR less productive than I had hoped it would be.  After a fast start where I wrote about 5 pages in 2 days, I petered out just as fast and have been just forcing myself to STOP writing chapter 7.  It's done.  It has been done.  Someone convince my muse that it's done!

So Chapter 8 is empty still.  STILL.  Unacceptable.  And yet, I doomed myself.  I bought myself Fallout 4 after Christmas and I have been unable to think about anything that isn't radioactive, apocalyptic, or devastated.  Fallout 4 is fun!  But that's not what I should be doing!

The moments when I have to force myself to write are the hardest.  It's like depression, I think.  You want to put fingers to keys and type things, and you KNOW what you want to type.  But it just -nope- doesn't happen.  You can be thinking of like a great bit of writing while in the shower or while walking through a snowstorm but you sit in front of a keyboard and -nope- nothing.  You immediately think of 'better' things to do, or a way to make your settlement in Fallout 4 that much better.

Sometimes I wonder if writing can be compared to a pressure system.  Ideas and the urge to write build up over time when you don't write, until at some point the urge to write overpowers the other distractions in life and you finally write because you need to relieve the pressure!  Well the end of December and the first week of January let me vent that pressure and now...  At least I have, officially, this time, finally, decided that Chapter 7 is 'good enough for me to stop writing it and move on.' I just hope Chapter 8 decides to let me write it down before I find some other game to disappear into. . .

I'm looking at you Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.

Not Enough Time (Fail Blog Part 2)

Just a quick post.  I'm working on another World Building post but just haven't had time to get it completed.  Been too busy the past few days despite having more than the usual amount of 'free time.'  Just got too wrapped up in stuff to do.

NaNoWriMo has also suffered this week.  I barely wrote anything and I'm not feeling good about it.  Hopefully this weekend works out better for me.  I hope everyone else's weekends turn out better.

I do not have the time to blog the armies of Mordor...

But I will blog none the less!

Lord of the Rings Reference.  Congrats if you got it.

That said, I really have had a bad day for free time.  I was considering writing a review on the Halo 5 single player campaign, but I want to do a good job and haven't had the time until 6:30 pm today.

That also means I have had little time to write for NaNoWriMo, though that does not mean I haven't written anything.  The current word count is 1016, and I finished Chapter 6!  So, I consider that an accomplishment.  At this rate I could reach 30,000 words for the month, which is no small feat!  When I edit my 'chapters' I anticipate a lot of things being reshuffled and actual chapters being made of pieces of the chunks I write.

*Two Hours Later*

Wow!  I let the night get away from me!  Today is not a good day for the blog.
